Choosing the Right Bridesmaid Dress |

I have 4 bridesmaids, all with different opinions, tastes, and bodies! And ever since I got engaged I have been pondering on what would be the best way to go about their dresses. Picking the color was easy: emerald green, representative of Colombia where my wedding will be held. But the next step was not easy at all… How would I find a dress that looked good in that color, on 4 different bodies?
Initially I thought of having 4 girls wearing different dresses, all with either different shades of that green or different patterns etc… such as this:
However, that meant having to find 4 good looking dresses, of the same material and that’s nearly impossible! Honestly, for over 5 months I had been stressing over this and asking for their opinions but always getting back mixed up responses. We found a thousand different looks, and dresses online, but they each would not like what the other picked.
I then asked myself if maybe I was being too nice and too lenient actually asking my bridesmaids to chose…. should I just be the one choosing and simply asking them to abide by whatever I chose? I know a lot of brides who either have the dresses done the way THEY want and don’t really have the input of the bridesmaids… at this point it almost seemed easier… but I keep thinking, this is their day to look nice too… I wanted them to feel good and smile at pictures
And I also wanted a dress that wouldn’t look too much like JUST a wedding dress but something they could use later on… it is after all not a $20 dress but more of $100+ so you want to be able to use it in the future.
But by pure coincidence, and luck… we have found THE PERFECT DRESS, PERFECT COLOR, and they ALL agreed on it so they’re all wearing the same one! How did we do it?
I went to lunch at the beach with one of my bridesmaids and as we were walking past stores we saw a big sale at BCBG. I had thought about BCBG for dresses but most of their stuff is $350++++ so that had pretty much been out of the question…. however she convinced me to just go in and look…
All the way at the back of the store, on a sale rack that said 70% OFF, we stumbled upon the most beautiful emerald green dress. We immediately looked at each other and said “WOW this is it”. The dress was originally $380 and we purchased it for $114. Next step was convincing them that I had found the perfect dress and I needed them to go the next day to try it on.. since it was a sale item they would not hold it more than 24 hours.
This is one of my bridesmaids trying it on:
I am very happy and so are they… they plan on cutting it after the wedding to use it as a going-out dress
One thing I am doing is having my maid of honor put a white lace around the waist…. The green doesn’t stand out on these pictures, it is actually bright emerald…. I just love it.

Stunning dress. Sometimes the best finds come when you least expect them. Just this weekend my mom and I went shopping and she got her dress for my wedding (which I had been worrying about) for $3.79 at Parisian. A $160 dress for less than $4 and I just snagged it because I thought it was a beautiful blue. It sort of helps put stressing in perspective eh?

Those look fab! Great choice. I’m loving the way it fits her body so well. And that color is phenomenal.
I remember loving that David’s Bridal picture and using it as inspiration for awhile too.
