Pictures are Worth 1000 Words… |

About a month and a half ago, we booked our wedding photographer. At first, we were not going to hire a professional photographer for our wedding because it seemed so expensive and unnecessary…
But, after considering how much time and effort I am putting into planning every loving detail of our wedding, it didn’t seem so extravagant. I thought I would have to convince Calla Lily Dude of the merits of increasing our wedding budget to include a quality photographer, but he was surprisingly open to it. Maybe he saw how important it was to me, who knows…
I did a little research into why wedding photography costs so much, and this was the best article that I read on the topic.
We ended up choosing Alameda, CA based photographer Breck Sargent of Sargent Photoworks. His pictures are stunning:

Oddly enough, I ended up having an unknown connection to the photographer we hired: He knows one of the students in the program that I work for. How six degrees of separation…
Ultimately, we decided to hire a professional to make sure that we have a high quality, lasting record of our wedding day. Neither of us buy into the “your wedding day is the happiest day of your lives” hype, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t want to remember ours.
Here’s what it boiled down to, just like a Mastercard commercial:
* Wedding photography: more money than expected
* Wedding day memories: Priceless!!!

That picture is stunning! I made wedding pictures a priority for my wedding because they are the only tangible thing you take away from that special day. When you get married, you become your own family and start your own family history that needs to be preserved and passed down!

Beautiful picture! Are you going to get the digital copies and copyright to your wedding photos? I recommend it because then you can make as many copies as you want for the rest of your life.

Yes, we are getting CDs with digital copies of all of our photos with full copyright privileges. That was definitely something we looked for and our photographer includes in all of his packages, so it was no problem at all!

I definitely think that a professional photographer is a good idea if at all possible. I remember that I loved to look at my parents’ wedding pictures when I was younger. When I was a teenager and fighting with my mom all the time, they helped me to see her in a different light
