One Dress, Two Dress…

December 7th, 2008 by

Long, long ago, I bought a wedding dress. It was 2005, long before I ever had concrete thoughts about marriage—and long before I got back together with my fiancé. I found it while helping a friend pick out her wedding dress, and it was only $200! I figured that I could buy it then, and if I changed my mind later that I could always sell it or donate it to charity…

Now, it is later… I still love the dress, but I started thinking about looking for something different. The dress is classic, traditional, and lovely.

I don’t think that any of these words really describe me, and they don’t really describe the wedding that I am planning either…

I though this would be something I’d go back forth thinking about, but then I found a different dress that I love.

The new dress is definitely more modern, fun, flirty, and, well, more me. I think it fits the wedding that I am planning much better than the first dress.

(Side note: I actually bought both dresses on eBay… I’ll tell you all about that adventure in a different post)

In the first dress, I look like a bride. In the second dress, I look like a woman. On our wedding day, I think my fiancé would rather I look like the woman he loves not an idealized version of what a bride is supposed to look like. More than anything, I feel more like myself in the second dress. So, needless to say, I will be wearing dress #2.

Good luck on your own dress hunting adventures!

I Love the 2nd dress too and have looked on ebay and everywhere I can think of for 1 month now. I would love to know the website, brand of the dress if you don’t mind passing it along. It is absolutely beautiful and exactly what I have been looking for. I have also been to David’s bridal but, nothing was even close to your 2nd dress.

    Sincerely,
    Help, desperate!!!
