How ‘Together’ Will You Be?

What aspects of your lives are you and your fiancee planning on combining once you get married? The main things that come to mind would be living spaces (Check.), last name (Check.), and bank accounts. But what about your iTunes, your email addresses, online calendars, splitting TiVo, and sharing NetFlix? Have you even thought about the tech. side of things? If you have, you’re way ahead of me because I definitely haven’t! I love my husband, but really? A joint email address? I don’t know about this one…

I found this article ‘Til Tech Do Us Part’ on WSJ.com and found the topic very interesting. I’d love to know your opinions!

We set up a joint email when Calla Lily Dude moved in with me, so all of our joint bills and joint account statements go to a place that both of us have complete access to. It has also made wedding planning easier because he has access to all of our vendor info although I am the main contact. But, I’ll admit, it was hard to share Tivo at first!

We have separate email accounts, and it will probably remain that way, although as it currently stands we both have access to each others accounts.

We have seperate e-mail addresses and it will probably stay that way, but we also have seperate computers because of our different uses – he’s a photographer and uses Mac based program, and I’m still using a PC. Because of our different techie needs it’s been easier to keep them seperated.

I think that if you choose to do a combined email account then you should be allowed to have the option of having your seperate one still too… I mean it is all fine and dandy to have a combined one for online bills and such but my fiance doesn’t particularly care for all the girl drama stuff that I get in my emails.. that is just my opinion however… I always try and find a way for both of us to get what we want… or at least close to it…
    Happy Wedding Days!!

My finance and I have separate email accounts, but we both access each others accounts occasionally to send a quick email (rather than trotting upstairs/downstairs to our respective computers). We have also started sharing our calendars to keep track of where each other is going to be (we recently started out own business, and it helps to keep track of appts, etc. for one another).

We got a joint checking account about 2 months before we go engaged, and after he had paid off the ring :-) Each day he hands me his receipts (for both personal & business) and i update the books nightly. It’s a system that still has a few kinks, but so far I’m pretty pleased with how it’s going.
